I never thought it would happen.
My wife grew up with several siblings and never had orthodontic treatment. Her teeth are not unhealthy or unsightly, but some crowding on both top and bottom teeth has started. It took a fair bit of convincing, but I started her Invisalign (invisible braces) treatment last month.
I wanted a few weeks of her wearing the clear retainers before I dared declare success, but she is well on the way to straighter teeth.
She was not bothered by a small amount of crowding, but having straighter teeth will not only improve their appearance, but the new alignment will make them a lot easier to clean.
The process is very straightforward.
With our digital scanner, we take scans of the teeth which get emailed to our laboratory. The Invisalign lab creates a treatment sequence which gets approved by me and the patient. Within 10 days, a set of clear aligners or retainers gets mailed to our office. We do some in-office modifications and adjustments to the teeth, and the patient leaves the office with several sets of sequential aligners. They are worn, on average, for two weeks. We typically see the patient every three (3) sets of aligners, i.e. every six weeks.
Our 3D scanner eliminates the need for those “gross” impressions that dentists are known for. The digital files created by the scans are much more accurate and we get a quicker response from the lab.
And the results we are getting with our invisible braces patients are phenomenal!
